Minecraft Dungeons II Blacksmith and Enchantsmith Guide

How to keep a favourite sword relevant and how to turn Enchant Books into builds.

Blacksmith and Enchantsmith

The Blacksmith and the Enchantsmith are the sequel’s answer to the oldest ARPG complaint: “I love this sword and the game wants me to throw it away.” Both vendors sit in Brave Haven. Both were the point of the gamescom 2026 demo. This page is the how-to-use-them guide, including the currency the Enchantsmith actually wants and the mistakes that will waste it.

Blacksmith — power and rerolls

Any piece you own can be opened at the Blacksmith. For a modest fee it can be raised to the highest power level currently available to you. That sentence is the whole loot-treadmill patch. A unique you found at power 18 can still be your unique at power 40. You are paying to keep a verb, not paying for a random new item.

The same vendor rerolls built-in buffs. If a chest piece looks like your build and rolls a useless prefix, you do not vendor the look. You reroll the prefix. Stop when the buff matches the verbs on your loadout planner — more dodge, more pet uptime, more souls, more fire — not when the number is merely bigger.

When to Blacksmith:

  • The item has a verb you already understand (pet, regen, bombs, frost, dash arrows).
  • You are about to enter a boss door and the item is under the dungeon cap.
  • The item is a cosmetic you will still want in The Sift.

When not to Blacksmith:

  • Grey filler you will replace in ten minutes.
  • A second copy of a verb you already capped.
  • Anything you have not compared on the Effects and Enchantments list. Flattened stats lie less than icon frames.

Enchantsmith — books, souls, new verbs

Enchant Books drop on the adventure. You bring them home. The Enchantsmith, paid with currency dropped by Soul Corrupted enemies, stamps those books onto weapons (and, based on the demo language, onto items more broadly). This is not the first game’s simple enchant menu with a reroll stone. It is a crafting step that can create a new ability synergy in one sitting.

Documented or clearly shown effects:

  • Increase how often you can dodge roll.
  • Shoot arrows with every dodge roll.
  • Add fire to arrows.
  • Frost Crescent II applied to the sword Pride of the Plains in the August gameplay trailer.

Stack those three dodge/arrow/fire lines and you have a moving turret. That is the Enchantsmith’s job: turn three sentences into a playstyle. It is also why this vendor sits next to the Blacksmith instead of inside a pause menu. You are meant to think in town.

How to farm the Enchantsmith without turning the wiki into a cheat sheet

Soul Corrupted enemies are the gate. They are flagged in trailers as a distinct threat, not as every zombie. Prioritise them on the Overworld road even if a shiny chest is screaming. Books without currency are fridge magnets. Currency without books is a pile of coins. You need both.

Do not dump a rare book onto a weapon you are about to vendor. Park the book until a Blacksmith-capped favourite exists. The starter builds page tells you which verbs to aim at; the Enchantsmith is how those verbs get onto the metal.

Inventory screen, because the smiths are only half the UI

The gamescom inventory still is the best public diagram we have: weapons on top, four armor tiles, three artifacts, three talismans, an Effects & Stats pane, and a highlighted talisman (Twisted Tooth, “Increases souls gained by 40%”). That souls talisman is a reminder that Enchantsmith currency and soul-adjacent bonuses will compete for your attention. If you are building the smith, wear the thing that feeds the smith.

Tap versus hold inventory is covered in controls. Full menu in town. Overlay in combat. Do not reroll a buff on a copper dash.

Suggested crafting order for launch week

  1. Finish Getting Started and take one dungeon.
  2. Identify one melee and one ranged you actually like.
  3. Blacksmith both to cap.
  4. Farm Soul Corrupted packs on the next Overworld road.
  5. Enchantsmith the likeable weapon, not the highest-frame weapon.
  6. Only then look at the weapons tier list. A B-tier sword with the right book beats an S-tier screenshot you cannot play.

Boss pages assume you did this. The Copper Monstrosity write-up is a ranged bomb build. The Twisted Warden write-up is a pet-and-regen build. Both start at these two vendors, not at the health bar.

If a patch changes book names after September 29, the verbs will probably stay. Dodge, arrows, fire, frost, pets, regen. Craft the verbs. Ignore the marketing synonyms.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Can the Blacksmith raise unique items?

Gamescom coverage says any piece you own can be upgraded to your current power cap, which is how favourite uniques stay relevant.

What currency does the Enchantsmith use?

A currency dropped by Soul Corrupted enemies, plus Enchant Books you find while adventuring.

Should I enchant the first sword I find?

No. Cap a weapon you like at the Blacksmith first, then spend books. Books are the scarce verb, not the metal.

Where are the smiths?

In Brave Haven, the coastal hub. See the Brave Haven guide for the rest of town.
